Elex is really very similar to the previous studio projects – “ Gothic " And Risen , And the developers talked about this with pride. But a half -hour session in the crowd of visitors to the exhibition is not enough to remember why we actually loved games from Piranha bytes.

First of all, for the excellent chamber atmosphere and unexpectedly successful solutions, for which you can close your eyes to an uncomfortable gameplay and a non -modern schedule. And although a full -fledged review will be a little later, one fact can be stated now. Piranha bytes did it again.

Planet Magalan – an extremely inhospitable place. 99% of living creatures outside the settlements dreams of biting you, chop, shoot, fumble with poison and flatten (sometimes at the same time). At the same time, even enemies that the notorious “cherry” does not shine over are killing you from a pair of blows. The world here is open and seamless, there is almost no “nursery” locations with low -level monsters here. And the close -up system for such enemies, to put it mildly, is not adapted.

Jacks can combine weak and strong blows. Three or four timely attacks allow you to carry out a powerful specialist and increase overall damage. And the hero also has … a strip of endurance, which is enough for only three or four actions, which puts the cross on all these bonds and constant rifts. The most successful close combat tactics in Elex are not to join it at all. On the other hand, who needs a sword, when there is a bow, a firearm (although not immediately) and wonderful grenades? And additional survival will provide one of several partners – these immortal ones, they can and in hand -to -hand.

Here is such a company lives just a couple of hundred meters from the first city gates. Four -legged even on the minimum complexity will be killed from two bites. Winged "handsome" – from one.

In order not to get up twice, we list all other negative impressions from ELEX in this paragraph. The layout of control in the PC version is terribly uncomfortable, especially in the menu of a pocket computer. The translation of terms and perks in the menu and dialogs does not regularly coincide. The text translation is complete, but in places terribly clumsy. The lighting system … infuriates! Getting used to the darkness after a brightly lit street is great and contributes to immersion in the world. But go back and get a flash of light in the eye is very unpleasant. This is the case when excessive realism harms the game.

Because, as usual, the ELEX setting and role system pleasantly surprise and make you forget about the uncomfortable gameplay. For a century and a half, which passed after the disaster, which brought the Elect Eleement to this world, people divided into four militant fractions. We can only enter only three of them … And here we are waiting for a wonderful surprise. No fraction is perfect.

Berserkers learned to process Elex in a clean mana and create powerful spells. With their help, they heal the wounds of the planet and successfully fight with more technological fractions. On the other hand, these are post -apocalyptic ameshi with terribly conservative laws – they hate any electric technique and look askance at Jax when he uses a jetpak or, God forbid, triggers a pocket computer sewn under his skin. Only swords and bows, only hardcore.

A century and a half ago there was a hotel. Now the leader of the berserkov with his wife and security lives here.

Clearics want to restore the technological golden age, which reigned on Magalan until a collision with a comet. They use an electric power to power and strengthen their blasters and other technology. But this does not prevent them from being a fraction of religious fanatics that will make you accept their God before allowing your secrets. They have a small town in the "green" part of the map-the local "Babylon-5", where representatives of all factions live. But their main city is located in the volcanic region near the place where the comet fell. It’s so easy not to get to him – the area around is radioactive.

Outlets are robbers settled in the desert part of the map. They are very similar to bikers from Mad Max and Heroes Borderlands. These brave guys do not mind drinking and jokes, they have a brothel (this is important!), and they use the Elex as a drug – they cook drugs, temporarily giving them reinforcements and pleasant hallucinations. What is the catch? They are complete scumbags! So much so that the first thing their leader demands to help him complete a giant bomb that can destroy the cities of other factions. What is needed in the inter -clan war!

Magalan – the world of climatic contrasts. Berserkers turned their area in the west into a blooming land. Outslines live on a deserted eastern plateau. Albas chose snowy territories in the north, and clerics settled in volcanic areas in the northeast.

Finally, there is a faction of the Albas, whose commander was once Jax. These use pure electric, and it completely deprives them of emotions (and skin pigment), but it gives different superpowers. And they, like the clergy, have combat robots. And all this company, in addition to a bunch of separatists, dreams, firstly, to capture the world, and secondly, to kill the protagonist.

I remembered you

Any of your action and choice in dialogue matters. The game regularly tells us: the interlocutor will remember this phrase, someone will not like this action, but here, a friend, there was a plot of an important event, and now you will have to live with it. No “+5 to attitude”, just the character remembered this, appreciates it, considers it strange and so on. Когда не думаешь о цифрах, погрузиться в отыгрыш гораздо проще. And if you want even more immersion, you can disable the entire interface in the settings, from radar and health strips to display names of interlocutors.

Your attitude to the world is also changing. Jax has a parameter that is called "coldness" in localization. The more often you show a detached and pragmatic view of the world, the higher the coldness, the more often you show emotions, the lower. Depending on this, you will be blocked by some options in dialogs. At the beginning of the game, this is not so important, but further on the plot everything will probably change.

The gameplay is not impeccable, but detailed adjustment of the complexity and frequency of auto -preservations is a definitely correct solution.
